Electrical Safety Switches

Safety switches are compulsory on the power and light circuits of all new homes in the ACT and NSW. Any new works to power circuits in existing homes in the ACT or NSW require the installation of a safety switch.

It is highly recommended that all existing homes have a safety switch installed on all light and power circuits.

A safety switch detects when a circuit is compromised and cuts the supply of electricity in as little as 30 milliseconds to protect against electrocution or electric shock.
